I am not a specialist on broadband, but I would say yes. o double-check, the
easiest for you is to open HyperTerminal.exe, connect it to your modem and
call your number. If you can see the RING message its OK.

What type of messages ? Voice messages have to go through the voice modem.
To send SMS over the internet you may use your broadband connection.
