Result variable switch not evaluating RV's

I had hoped to use a 'Result variable switch' to check user passwords entered during the mailbox greeting. The switch works if I use '= 1234' but not if I put '= $RV[Password]'.
I have verified that the $RV[Password] contains 1234 as shown below, but the script will not switch and goes to 'Box'.

Does this switch support RV's or only constant values?
