INS / sms modem support

We want to use an sms modem to send sms messages.
In the preferences/communications I find 2 options :
-sms: outgoing sms through handset
-sms: outgoing sms through modem

What is the difference between this settings ?

And is the following modem supported in INS (v8.0.1) ?
