Hi Abid,

Good to hear from you again.

OK, please use the following serial number
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx(clipped)xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
It is the serial number for an "unlimited one line license", so you may send
messages, but also receive messages for the IVR.

This depends on what you want to achieve. There are three features that may
be of interest to you:

Message sending through a command line
Here it is Citect (or other application) that detects the alarms and submits
the alarm message to our SendMsg command line tool. So you would use a
CiCode sniped and call IE

SendMsg.exe 20000101000000 VOICE MAW "Happy New Year"
or
SendMsg.exe 20031609231000 DEFAULT >EMLIST "Fire in CR"
or
SendMsg.exe NOW SMST [SMS:0123456789] "ForJohn.txt"

Through the switches you may define when to send the message, to whom
(single contact or list) and through which channel (SMS, pager, fax, voice,
e-mil).
For more information about SendMsg please refer to our help file or
http://www.mawnet.com/mscs/manual4.html#idh_n1_send_message
I don't think you need advice on how to write the CiCode part.

Message Sending through Check-it
Check-it is an utility that scans an external DDE application (IE a CiTect
project) for values, hence you can do the alarm detection for a CiTect
project here. By defining limit values to be reached, you will be able to
trigger alarms. The message will be sent and the alarm disabled until the
value returns to a normal limit.
The events can be enabled/disabled through a simple mouse click, making it
easy to disable an alarm for maintenance.
If you run Check-it you will see a couple of sample events, including one
for CiTect and one for InTouch.

Interactive Voice Response
The IVR part of our product allows you to receive incoming calls, SMS or
e-mails and start a script to react on it. There is a sample on
C:\MsgServer\SampleScripts\VoiceScripts\Citect\Citect1.vsc that shows how to
interact with CiTect to switch AHU and to receive information about current
values of the NH3 sensors. This script actually runs in a factory in
Mulgrave.
Communication to CiTect can be done through DDE or through COM (ActiveX)

> Wonderware etc...

All of those SCADA application have the ability to run a command line, hence
they can call SendMsg.exe to send messages. Wonderware, RsView and WinCC
have also the ability to act as a DDE server (there is a sample entry for
WonderWare it in the CheckIt samples). We never used the Intellution
package.

> or re-route them etc...

Again this depends on how you send the messages. If you use SendMsg it will
be CiTect that detects the alarms and also defines the users to page. Hence
it is there that you need to give the operator the necessary choices.
In Check-It you may quite simply enable/disable an alarm, one mouse-click
and it is done. In Check-it you also have a drop down list to select the
destination, hence you may quite easily select a new person or group.
MsgCenter (as the main UI) allows you to define contacts and groups. It is
also possible to define different time based communication ports.
Most of us use different communication tools at different times. It is not
uncommon that we receive our messages by e-mail during working hours, but by
pager at home. To make sure that the message finds a way to get to its
recipient, you can configure all communication types your contacts are
likely to use and define at which times to use what type.

Well there is at least one huge difference... that is the price! I think we
need to re-adjust (rise!)our prices to their level...
Also their base package only supports paging and e-mail. The other more
advanced licenses do not run on XP :-( and they do not have an IVR.
Other than that, feature wise, it is quite comparable. But I can only judge
from their web site as we never came across their SW.

We are quite happy to assist. Obviously if it requires us to rewrite our
software to fit the customers demand we will need to charge you for that. We
have realized quite a number of "taylor made" projects for customers, so
there is no problem with that.

I hope that this answered most of your questions and am looking forward to
your comments. I would also very much recommend you to install our MSCS and
have a closer look (if you have not already done so). Please feel free to
request further information any time you need.

Sincerely,

Marc Wanderer
