SMSC using modem dial up in the UK

Hello,
I am currently evaluating your message server comunication suite, and I am having trouble sending SMS messages via a modem through any of the predefined pager services, eg UK,orange fleet or uk vodafone. etc. I noticed that one or two have entries in the PW field, do all messages centers require a Password or just those with one specified?

When trying the UK pager services I got various responces to the modems dial up from engaged tones to recorded messages telling me I had the wrong number.

please could you answer the following to help me with this problem.

1: do any of the pager services for the uk work or are they just example entries?
2: if real how up to date are they?
3: do any/all of them requesire a password?
4: if so where would I get this from.
5: where would I get a list of current UK SMSC's
6: do the '-' in the number matter or are they ignored when dialing?
7: for sending SMS's can I simply switch from XIO to UDP or will some of the other settings need changing?


any help with the above much apreciated.
