PhoneTools communicates directly to the serial port and does not use the Windows driver...
I understand that you are caught between two opinions and that it is frustrating for you.
But from our side we can only tell you what worked for us. Normaly every voice modem with CallerID feature should work! MSCS does nothing else than polling the Windows driver for CallerID information. If the driver transmit it then we get it... as simple as that.
So far we got every modem that claimed to have CallerID to work, but it sometimes took time to play around with the drivers etc.
The modem needs to match the OS driver and the CallerID format transmitted by the phone company. Therefore we can not advise you what works best in the UK...
