From the log it seems that MSCS generates an Exception whenever it tries to use DDE.
The fact that you are able to do the same thing from Excel without error puzzles me however.
Ar you running XP with SP2 ? Can you try a different computer just for the sake of testing. There seems to be something on your computer that blocks DDE from MSCS somehow... and so far I have no idea what.
