I used your VBS snipped and run a script with it. I opened Excel and entered the integer value 1 in cell B3. The value was read correctly, the MsgBox displayed and the WScript.Quit() returned the value correctly. What did I do differently than you ? Did you say that our sample worked on your PC, but your test did not ?
We have set up a test system with XP, but run into problems during the installation. In the mean time we have launched a call with MS, asking about available hotfixes for the DDE limitation. As soon as we get them to answer we will advise.
