As per our last e-mail, the "The specified device is already in use. Wait until it is free, and then try again" error may be generated by MsgServer, but not by SendMsg. So I can not see any reason why an open popup window from the monitoring software could gerate this error. As soon as SendMsg finishes execution MsgServer will try to send the message, so ev. if the network monitoring software locks the modem you would get this error, but this is rather unlikely...
Have you considered updating to v5.1 of our software? There where a couple of stability issues resolved between v4 and v5, but as far as I know none of them corresponded to the problem you describe...
You may try to install v5.1 in a different directory for testing purpose and see if it resolves your problem.
