Hi,

I am evaluating INS for use with our SCADA product (similar to WonderWare or Citect). In working with INS I have observed a number of things that seem strange. I have gotten the following message many times in my testing:

“MsgServer.exe There has been an unexpected error. Please contact MAW support”.

What is the significance of this message? Does it mean the Windows registry has gotten corrupted? I tried deleting INS, rolled back the registry, and reinstalled INS. But, I still see many traces of the old registry settings in the new install, so I don't think this method did anything for a corruption in the registry. I saw in you forum that you sent other customers a tool for cleaning the registry. Might this help?

One of the problems I have encountered is that the outgoing email does not work, even though incoming does, and I am using the same settings and addresses that I successfully use in Outlook Express. INS gives an error in the system log on trying to connect to the SMTP server. SMTP Test connects just fine, as does Outlook Express.

Another problem I have is that when I hit the TEST buttons on the configuration page, sometimes it works and most times it greys out the buttons and give the "Contact MAW..." error message.

TTS speech sounds really bad with my voice modem card. There is a lot of crackling noise and there seems to be a lot of rolling "trilled" r sounds (like the RR digraph sound in Castilian Spanish). Is this the best I can expect from a voice modem? Or, is something wrong? Does it sound a lot better with a voice card?

Is there any way to shorten the time between answering a call and having the voice announcement? I am worried that some call recipients will hang up before they realize that this is a real call.

Thanks,

Neal
