Fred,

Do you use the direct sending to send messages (I guess so as you are downloading contacts).
Does SMS-it report that the message has been sent (Message is in the SENT folder, not in the FAILED folder)?
Did you specify the number of your contact correctly? Try to use a contact once with the country code (IE +41-7999999 for Switzerland) and once without the country code (IE 07999999).
Sometimes the provider uses a different format.
