Can't connect Nokia 8250 or 3310

I have a Nokia 8250/3310 connected to my PC via Serial cable, when I try to connect to SMS It it keeps telling me there's no compatible phone found connected to the port.But the documentation for SMS it says 8250 is a compatible model, i've tried almost every possible way to get it working but still getting the same response from the software.Please help,i couldn't find any other affordable software of this kind.Thank you.
