+ sign in numbers replaced by double zeroes.

If I set the Sender ID to my own number
+4670xxxxxxx the leading + sign is automatically changed to 00 by SMS-It when the message is sent. This makes the sender number come up as 004670xxxxxxx and not as +4670xxxxxxx on the receiving phone which makes it possible to see that the message was not sent from my phone. Why is that? Is it possible to change somewhere in the program so it does not change + to double zeroes in the Sender ID?

(I tried to trick SMS-It by adding a blank before the + sign and this at least tricked SMS-it to not replace the + but the message was not acknowledged by the UPC server).
