Do not use the "Direct to COM4" entry, but select the "standard modem over IR" entry instead. Tis entry is only available after your PC has detected the phone, so you can only start SMS-it! then.
To make sure that the phone works correctly, please use Hyperterminal, connect to COM4 and type AT. If the phone returns OK, then you can use it with SMS-it!
