Blackberry connection

I am trying to use SMS-it with blackberry connected via the USB. I tried both with and without the "desktop manager" running but it fails to connect.

On installation Blackberry created a standard modem on com20. When I try to send an SMS the sending blinks a few time then after a while it says "failed"

The quick set allowed me to select that standard modem after I selected "direct link"

Any idea what could be wrong
