Persistent DDE error (MS Access)

I tried testing the flexibility of MSCS using the DDE feature with MS access , but i continue to get the error "DDE Error" when an sms message processing gets to the dde cell. Ms Access and the specified .mdb database is open and running when i try it. I even went as far as opening the tables. The script i am using is a replica of your sample DDE references. On the system log , at the point of the error it says ;that is on the sms channel: DDE read []
DDE Error
blah blah "forced exit"

What is responsible? I am using Access 2002 but the file is running in Access 2000 format.DDE refresh is enabled (Tools>options>advanced).
