Colin,
You can not use DDE to start a .bat file.
Instead use the "Run Program" cell.
This cell however requires a .exe as parameter. To run .bat files please download www.mawnet.com/download/RunBAT.exe, which is a small utility that calls the .bat files.
The format for the "Run Program" cell will then become
C:\RunBAT.exe c:\myfile.bat

As the "Run Program" expects a result file (See the help file under "Run Program", you may also need to create a dummy result file and put it into c:\MsgServer
