USR is fine as long as you have downloaded the latest driver for the "USR Voice modems". This is important as the voice features are only enabled with the right driver. Without the voice features the system will not accept the modem.

Please do the following:

1) Download the latest driver for your USR
2) Run MsgCenter
3) Select Tools->Quick Setup
4) Let the system detect your modem
Make sure that the system displays SUCCESS after the modem detection next to your modem label.

This should take care of your problems.
