There are some data cables around for the 8210, but we never used them. We allways used the IR connection which works fine. (You need the IR patch if you are using Win2000 or XP)

Have a look at the SMSonDemand.tsc text sample under
C:\MsgServer\SampleScripts\Text Scripts\SMSonDemand.
This shows how to receive an SMS in a certain format and then search an MsAccess DB for the required information and send it back.

The 3310 does not have an IR port, hence you can use it but need a Nokia data cable for it.
