"the sequence of tones"

I called my land line from my cell and when I hang up all I hear is one big "click" and another major one a few seconds later. I am unable to hear any sequence of pitches right after hanging up.

The only sequence of tones that comes to mind is a sequence of three pitches (low, higher, highest) that the phone company uses here when you dial a number that has been changed or is not in service.

And yes I'm having problems since INS only seem to detect that the caller has hung up after about 20 seconds after it happens, and the modem does not release the line until then.

(I'm on day 5 or so of the 30 day trial)
