Re: Re: Multiple voice messages

Thanks for your reply.

Only one instance of Message Server is running. Introducing a delay when the second server fails, in order to allow the execution of the first Sendmsg.exe to complete, seems to have improved matters quite a bit, though I need to test this further.

I have a second problem with what I am trying to do, however. When one of the servers that is being monitored fails, the network monitoring software normally brings up a popup window on the screen of our monitoring server with a message giving details of the server failure. The monitoring software also runs the Send Message batch file. However, if the popup window from the monitoring software remains on the screen while the Send Message batch file runs, a Message Server dialogue box appears with the message "The specified device is already in use. Wait until it is free, and then try again." It is only if the popup message from the monitoring software is quickly removed by OKing it that the Send Message batch file will execute successfully. It's as though there is a conflict between the two programs. I can't see how the popup message from the monitoring software could cause the modem to be "already in use", so I'm guessing that it is causing some other resource to be in use that Message Server needs. So far I've bypassed this problem by disabling the popup messages altogether, but this is not very satisfactory for what we are trying to do for reasons that would take too long to explain. Do you have any suggestions on how I might get the applications to work together properly?

Many thanks

Kevin
